For years, the campus mascot has been a mystery—cheering on the sidelines, high-fiving students in the quad, and dancing through halftime shows without ever giving away their identity. But this Friday night, during the big home game against Riverton College, the mask is finally coming off.
The Athletics Department announced earlier this week that the person behind the mascot suit, known only as “The Red Hawk,” will reveal their face to the crowd at halftime. The announcement has already sent a buzz across campus, with students speculating wildly about who it might be.
“I’ve heard it’s a senior on the basketball team, or maybe someone from the drama club,” said junior Maya Thompson. “Whoever it is, they’ve been keeping this secret for a long time.”
The Red Hawk has been a fixture at every major sporting event since freshman orientation last year. Their over-the-top dance routines, backflips, and comedic skits have made them a student favorite, with clips often going viral on social media.
According to event organizers, the reveal is part of the school’s Spirit Week festivities, which include pep rallies, a bonfire, and Friday’s highly anticipated game. The Athletics Department hinted that the reveal will be accompanied by a special performance.
“Students can expect a fun surprise,” said Coach Brian Lee. “It’s about celebrating school pride and giving credit to someone who’s been a huge part of our campus energy.”
With rumors flying and anticipation high, the halftime show promises to be one of the highlights of the semester. Win or lose against Riverton, fans will finally get their answer: who’s been hiding under the feathers of the Red Hawk?
