In a truly feathered spectacle, the campus was treated to a performance unlike any other this week: a local bird reportedly sang the school anthem—and earned a tidy sum for its efforts.
The event, held at the Student Union courtyard, was part of a fundraiser organized by the student government to raise money for campus arts programs. According to organizers, a talented parrot named Beethoven—already something of a local celebrity—delivered a surprisingly accurate rendition of the alma mater, complete with enthusiastic chirps and flaps.
“Honestly, we weren’t sure what to expect,” said student government president Riley Morgan. “But Beethoven stole the show. People were cheering, clapping, and even donating on the spot. He raked in more donations in ten minutes than we usually see in a full afternoon of fundraising.”
Onlookers were charmed by the bird’s performance, with some posting videos on social media that quickly went viral. “I’ve never seen a crow so committed to school spirit,” joked sophomore Alex Chen. “It’s amazing how one little bird can energize the whole quad.”
Organizers say the bird’s earnings will go directly to funding new instruments and art supplies for the campus arts program. Beethoven, meanwhile, was rewarded with a specially prepared fruit platter and a shiny new perch in his enclosure.
While no official word has been given on whether Beethoven will make a return appearance, students are already speculating about future performances. One thing is certain: campus fundraising may never be quite the same again.
